NEW KHALISTAN FACTION: NIP IN THE BUD

Chandigarh, Punjab (India).  “Waris Punjab De” the so called faction who supports Khalistan; chief Amritpal Singh had been arrested a couple of days back.  Now his uncle and driver have surrendered before the Punjab Police on Sunday night as information received from the Punjab Police.

There has been efforts underway to arrest the hardcore supporters of Khalistan and close aids to Amritpal Singh in connection with Ajnala incident.  SSP Jalandhar Swarndeep Singh confirmed the arrest of Amritpal Singh’s uncle and driver last night.

Punjab has seen unrest and militancy in nineties.  The operation Blue Star in Golden Temple and later the unfortunate murder of the Prime Minister Smt Indira Gandhi and the Chief Minister Shri Beant Singh.  However, movement of Khalistan was dealt with iron fist.  With meticulous planning and execution by then Director General of Police of Punjab KPS Gill had uprooted the militancy.  However, pro Khalistanis who left India and settled in various foreign countries, try to keep the issue alive by protesting and procession.  It has been alleged that Pakistan ISI has supported such separatist and help them in keeping this issue alive.

Recently, in last couple of months back the members and supports of Waris Punjab De and it’s chief Amritpal Singh, who returned from Dubai, has again fuelled the issue.  There were some members were arrested by the Punjab Police which were forcefully got released by the crowd by surrounding the police station.  

Taking a serious view on this, the Chief Minister of Punjab Mr Bhagwant Maan and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Punjab Police has launched a manhunt to nab these separatists.  Amritpal Singh was arrested a couple of days back after a long vehicle chase.  After his arrest, to obviate any untoward incident, protest and spreading of misinformation, mobile internet and SMS services were suspended and will continue till Monday, March 20.  It was also informed by the central agencies that Daljeet Singh Kalsi alias Sarabjeet Singh Kalsi, who is an alleged advisor and financer of Amritpal Singh was arrested.  To avoid any congregation, heavy police force has been deployed outside Amritpal Singh’s residence in Jallupur Khera village in Amritsar.  The police also conducted flag marches in various parts of the state to maintain law and order.(Source: ANI)
