Jammu & Kashmir, Tuesday, December 20, 2022: The security forces in a joint operation with J&K Police gun down 3 Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist linked with killing of Kashmiri Pundits in an encounter in Shopian district. The terrorist reportedly are local Kashmiri terrorists. Two terrorists have been identified as Lateef Lone and Umar Nazir of Shopian and Anantnag respectively. As per Kashmir Zone Police, these terrorists were involved in killing of Pandit Shri Purana Krishna Bhat and Till Bahadur Thapa of Nepal. 01 AK 47 rifles, 2 pistols, magazines and ammunition have been recovered from the possession of slain terrorists.
Shopian and Anantnag district of Kashmir have been fertile area of terrorist. Due to winter and heavy snowfall in Kashmir, crossing the border leaving no track to security forces have become difficult. Besides, the security forces have tracking equipment and intelligence network. The encounter commenced on a specific intelligence input by the police through their intelligence network and the team surrounded the Munjh Marg area of Shopian.
It was reported that to chock the funding to secessionists activities and to dismantle the ecosystem of anti-national and terrorist activities in the state of J&K, the State Investigating Agency seized properties of Jamat-e-Islami (Jel) worth crores of rupees in the districts of Baramulla, Bandipora, Ganderbal and Kupwara.
Dealing the terrorism with iron fist is leading to elimination of terrorists in greater numbers. The people of Kashmir have seen lot of blood bath for more than 30 years and understood the mechanism of separatist in Jammu and Kashmir. Now the security forces with active support of J&K Police, intelligence agencies and good locals has tightened the noose over the terrorists’ outfits to prevail the peace in the UT of J&K.
