New Delhi (India), Friday, December 30: Prime Minister Modi’s mother Hiraben Modi passed away today’s morning. She was admitted to UN Mehta Hospital in Ahmedabad and PM Modi has visited here a couple of days back. She was centenarian and celebrated her birthday in June 2022. This is personal loss to Modi family as she has been an inspiration to all. Hiraben used to live with Modi’s younger brother, Pankaj Modi at Raysan Village near Gandhinagar.
Prime Minister Modi wrote on his Twitter handle “A glorious century rests at the feet of God. In Maa, I have always felt that trinity, which contains the journey of an ascetic, the symbol of selfless Karamayogi and a life committed to values”. Another tweet he mentioned his last meeting with his mother Hiraben “When I met her on his 100th birthday, she said one thing which is always remembered that work with intelligence and live life with purity”.
Prime Minister Modi left for Ahmedabad on hearing the unfortunate demise of his mother leaving the scheduled programmes for today. In UN Mehta Instituted of Cardiology and Research Centre in its update on the health of Hiraben stated that she is responding well to the treatment and improving. The Gujrat Chief Minister’s Office has also released statement to this effect as well.
Condolences messages on the sad demise of Prime Minister Modi’ mother are pouring in from leaders across of political parties and world leaders. While the Hiraben was admitted in the Hospital, Rahul Gandhi twitted “The love between a mother and a son is eternal and priceless. Modiji, my love and support is with you in this difficult time. I hope your mother gets well soon”. Similar messages for her speedy recovery and good health were received from world leaders and their representatives.
Prime Minister Modi was seen shouldering his mother’s bier. The body was then put in an ambulance and the PM Modi accompanied her. She laid to rest in Gandhinagar. While talking to NDTV a family member said “We thank everyone for their prayers in these tough times. It is our humble request to everyone to keep the departed soul in their thoughts and continue with their pre decided schedule and commitments. That would be a befitting tribute to Hiraba”.
