Vijay Kumar Beniwal, a bank manager from Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh, was shot and killed by a terrorist at the Ellaqui Dehati Bank’s Areh Mohanpora branch in Kulgam earlier this month.
An encounter in the Kanjiular area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian late Tuesday night resulted in the deaths of two terrorists linked to the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Jan Mohammad Lone was one of the terrorists slain in the operation, according to authorities. Lone, a Shopian local, was involved in the Kulgam district’s intentional death of a bank manager.
Tufail Ganai has been identified as the second terrorist. The site of the meeting yielded incriminating materials, weaponry, and ammo, including an AK 47 rifle and a pistol, according to authorities.
A terrorist entered the bank and fired at the bank manager, according to surveillance camera footage.
Beniwal’s assassination was the eighth since May 1, and the third involving a non-Muslim government official. The recent series of targeted killings of Kashmiri Pandits, Hindu migrants, and government personnel has prompted a new round of exodus from the Valley, with demands for relocation to safer locations until the security situation improves.
